Although I don't know how to put a link here, I saw a CL posting for a 55g reef tank (up and running) which contains 100lbs of live rock - the poster recently got divorced and needs to get rid of it. If I had the room and $$ what would be a reasonable offer?

I've seen live rock advertized on USA sites for around $5 to $9 per lb. If its good quality rock, somewhere around $2 to $4 per lb would be a good estimate. (depending on the quality of the rock).

I'd check out adds for other 55 gallon tanks in the same area to get a idea of what its worth

You could always make him a offer and see what happens
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I wouldn't low ball him some ppl get pissed at that lol... I'd say they're probably looking for around $300 but that's low, depending on how bad they need to get rid of it you could score pretty big here

Do you know exactly what comes with it?
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013

20g Long --> currently concoting a build plan

Check out the journal to follow my 20g SW tank
