What goes with guppies
hello to all. thank for taking the time to read my post. i would like suggestions as to what fish are compatible with guppies, that are colorful. my tank is cycled and id like to find some non aggressive types that are the most colorful. my tank has a black background, gray ornaments and black gravel, so id like the most colorful (yes i know salt water is prettier). i looked thru the forum and didnt see and list of compatible fish. if there is one, my apologies, please direct me, if not please start listing some. thank you.

P.S. my lady like guppies so we got some, its a 29 gal tall tank. id like to get some larger mid swimming fish that are compatible, if they eat her fish, i'll never hear the end of it!Last edited by mwl1881; 07-19-2011 at 04:52 AM.

There are many different types of platys that are easy to keep and are compatible with most fish.

Cherry Barbs are about the same size as guppies and a school of 6 or more of them will get along fine with them...

Agree with the cherry barbs - I believe it's the males that are the brightest red - I have a group myself.

Duplicate thread...needs to be closed or deleted.
Hi mwl1881, Welcome to the Forum! Just so you know for the future, creating duplicate threads takes up unnecessary space and can also create some confusion.

I also like cherry barbs but you should have more females than males. Most fish will eat tiny baby guppies so you need to make sure you don't want new babies if you add more fish.
Your two threads have been merged together. Only one please.Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 07-19-2011 at 01:19 PM.

I second platies, they are petty awesome and come in all sorts of colours and patterns (mine are bright red and sparkling blue), do well in similar water to guppies, and as an added bonus, like to snack on algae if there is any in the tank.
The only other thing I can think of for "larger peaceful colourful fish" is rainbowfishes... but I'm not sure which ones your tank would be suitable for, I've never kept any.
