how sensitive is the general fish's eyes?
ok so i know in humans that every eye is different. i know personally my eyes are sensitive to ir light that falls very close to the "visible spectrum" i know this cuase ir leds give me head aches if there are any on. but my eyes are normal when it comes to UV.
now comes the ideas :P
UV night lights, UV im thinking is softer than the blue leds most people like
and
IR for night time pics, even tho they are usually black and white you can use night shot mode in most cameras and extra IR light, this will give a near day time brightness. also for video taping night time behaviors :)KING OF THE GOLD BARBS RAWR!!!!
I wonder if i plant one of my tiger barbs would the demon seed grow to a full tree?
gotta love them bunnies!

What would be the point of ultraviolet nightlights? You can't see the light. You would see things that fluoresce under UV, but it certainly wouldn't be anything like the natural moon/starlight people try to emulate.
IR light does not penetrate water very well at all, so you wouldn't be able to do much with it.300 gallon mega tank: build in progress
75 gallon community tank: tetras, danios, corys, platies, otos, pearl gouramis, bristlenose pleco, assassin snails, red cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp
70 gallon growout tank: clown loaches, sailfin pleco
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish
29 gallon frog tank / 10 gallon tadpole tank: 1 leopard frog, 1 tadpole
10 gallon and 5.5 gallon betta tanks: 1 male betta each, sometimes snails

I don't get it...
Humans can't see UV or IR light, they are outside of the human visible spectrum. Black lights look purple/blueish and do emit UV light but the UV isn't what you're seeing. Also most remote controls emit IR light when you press the button which again humans can't see unless you're using night vision goggles to enhance the image.

actually there is spectrum of both types of like that is near uv and near ir, in which cases people can actually see some fragment of light, i didnt know ir didnt penetrate water never knew that :P.
i should say the pure uv would be useless as a moonlight but if you get a near uv (Ie uv leds :P teehee)
so im guessing fish eyes arent sensitive twords these lights ?KING OF THE GOLD BARBS RAWR!!!!
