Thread: Breeding?

  1. Default Breeding?

I was wondering if it is possible for gouramis to breed in a 10 gallon tank? Just 1 male and 1 female. Also will a gold and an opaline breed together?
    Advice would be appreciated,

OK, I found out you cant cross breed but can you place them in a 10 gal to breed? Cause I dont understand how you would leave them in your community tank for this, since you have to lower the water level amongst other things?

Gouramis don't generally breed until they are three inches or larger. At that size breeding in a 10g might work out. When they are full grown, they may be six inches long and need more like a 20L or larger to consider spawning.

There are some decent articles on breeding Gouramis, on line. Take all of them with a bit of skepticism, unless the article links to the authors expertise.
