My salt project is almost complete. I am doing a FOWLR tank, using 30Lbs of live rock and 50Lbs of quarried rock. The tank is cycling nicely with levels across the board where they are expected to be at this stage of the setup. pH @ 8.4, Ammonia 0.75, Nitrite 0.25ppm, Nitrate 10ppm, copper 0.

I plan on adding Hermit Crabs in 2 or 3 weeks.

I was planning on having a Lion and a Leaf. I am not so sure now. After visiting several LFS in my area, there are so many choices, it seems almost endless! Anyhow, the up side is I have 3 weeks or so to make up my mind, well, what's left of it, what's the saying, hobby or obsesion...

Lookin good... interesting choice of substrate... most people just go with a finer sand but I like the look of that! Good to hear your cycle is coming along well
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013

20g Long --> currently concoting a build plan

Check out the journal to follow my 20g SW tank

I'm looking forward to reading about tank as it develops

do you have a skimmer or powerheads yet ?
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

No protein skimmer yet, but there is a powerhead in there, bottom left what looks like a cave:

It's the KORALIA evolution (suction/magenetic mount) that moves 1050GPH, the tank has great flow with the EHEIM G160 pushing 330GPH as well...

I set up the powerhead so all the flow ends up at the pickup point for the cannister...

    Talking Tank ready

The Tank is cycled! I have growth on most of the quarried rock now.

Fish added today as well. 2 Damsels and a Sabae Clown. I am seriously leaning towards a community tank instead of predators. I may do predators when I set up my 220G next year. Once again, sorry for the poor quality photo's. That will change soon...

    Glad to hear your cycled

You diatoms should not last too long

Keep a close eye on those damsels. Some of them can get aggressive and might not be good for a community tank

Will do on the damsels Cliff, but this little bugger

    (Sabea Clown fish)

Is who I think I will have to watch! Cute little bugger though.

Not as agressive as the Maroon Clown, I was advised it is 'willfull', (sounds like my Malamute!) I chose him as the LFS had one that was full grown, spectacular IMO...
