    Default 2.5 Pico Update

Took a few new pics of the 2.5 gallon Pico tank the other day. Just wanted to share them. Can anyone ID the last two pictures?

    Thanks!

Still looks great. Can you get an updated full tank shot.

Sure. It was due for a water change and the glass was a little dirty, so I didn't take any tank shots this time around. After my next waterchange, I will get some new tank shots. Thanks for the comment.

Those are Hydnophora exesa (encrusting hydnophora), a type of SPS coral (with contradictory 'medium'-sized polyps). It will eventually encrust the coral skeleton or live rock that it is currently on.

Here's what a larger specimen looks like:

Be advised to keep this coral a few inches away from other corals, as it can be very aggressive and packs a stronger sting than even euphyllia corals. Rather than producing stinger tentacles it can cast a stinging 'web' of mesenterial filaments onto other corals in its immediate vicinity.
