Dont Bowfins get really large? An adult bowfin needs a very large tank say close to 1000 gallons. Maybe I'm thinking of a different species than the one I've caught fishing for pickerel.
Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

Please remember; every keystroke has a consequence.

    No you can't.

I dont believe you can release fish into local lakes or ponds, I may be wrong though...

Look at the biological aspect of it. While in your care, the fish may come into contact with non native diseases/parasites that may remain in its body despite recieving treatment. When you release the fish into the local waterways, you are in fact exposing the population of every endemic species to these pathogens and parasites for which they may have no resistance to.
