There are probably hundreds of community fish that would work in a 50 gallon aquarium, but they wouldn't all work with each other. Kind of hard to make any recommendations with that many options out there. You'd probably be best off doing some research or looking in local fish stores for one or two species you really want, and then building a stocking list around them.
300 gallon mega tank: build in progress
75 gallon community tank: tetras, danios, corys, platies, otos, pearl gouramis, bristlenose pleco, assassin snails, red cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp
70 gallon growout tank: clown loaches, sailfin pleco
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish
29 gallon frog tank / 10 gallon tadpole tank: 1 leopard frog, 1 tadpole
10 gallon and 5.5 gallon betta tanks: 1 male betta each, sometimes snails

there are many fish you can choose for the community but you should do a research on each fish you would like to put in your 50 gallon tank. research for its compatibility. :)

Fish are friends.

1st tank
2nd tank (empty)
3rd tank (Jardini Arowana (1) 7", Ornate Bichir (1) 6", Redtail Catfish (1) 8")

A 55 gal is good for one to two nice angels (when bought young and together) as main center piece fish - maybe a large school of neons or cardinals to go with them. A mob (6 or so) of cory cats. Of course, others are nice like rummy nose (again a school.) A few ideas but schools really add activity and color.

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell

Yes, does happen but if you start with neons and angels (all small) and grow out - I've read here that this rarely happens.

There are so many things that can go in a 55gal, why dont you go through and get a list together of all fish you find attractive at the LFS. Then come back with a list and we can group, narrow down and push out the bad ones.
Community fish can be cichlids and at the same time they can be mollys, it just depends on what you are wanting out of your tank.FW: 1 45gal, 1 40gal, 3 10gal, 3 30gal all community tanks of different species
Sw: 1 55gal, 1 30gal show, 1 29gal show, 1 20gal and 2 10's
