Cutting silicone
Anyone have any ideas on how to separate two sheets of glass siliconed together side by side, like laid flat on top of each other? I could try a razor, but the glass is about 6" wide, so I wouldn't be able to get all the way in with that. You think a bent knife might work?
I have the chance to get a big tank for cheap, but it leaks so I would want to reseal it. Also it wont fit in my house and I am not sure I would be able to even move it unless I tear it apart first. 3/4" glass is no joke.
So I need to tear it apart and they used sheets of glass around the edges as extra support on the bottom seal.
Any ideas?Who is "General Failure" and why is he reading my hard drive?

You could try using a box cutter knief with the blad fully extended. You would have to be extremely careful to not break the blade. It's not the safest option but it might work with a new balde. You would have to be very careful
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Get a box cutter with one of those extendable blades with the breakaway sections? That should give you a razor blade that's at least 3-4" long. [edit: aka what Cliff just said]
Or you could use some wire. Slide it between the glass and run it back and forth, and it should work like a sawblade to slice through the silicone.300 gallon mega tank: build in progress

Piano wire? What a good idea! Also puts no pressure on the glass.
Anyone see the ad on TV for this stuff?
http://www.asseenontvguys.com/flex-s...k-stopper.aspx I always wondered if it would work on a tank with a cracked bottom or back and sides of a tank. Supposed to stop all leaks but......ah, it is an ad.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••
