Question about pond snails
I wil be getting a new shipment of plants this week, and I want to eliminate any pond snails that might be passengers.
I was thinking of floating the plants in an (otherwise) empty tank and dosing the water with Aquari-Sol, which is a copper salt solution. It's an old plant safe ick treatment, so I don't have to worry about it harming the plants.
Will the Aquari-Sol kill the snail eggs along with the snails? The eggs have to be somewhat permeable, so oxygen gets inside, but I didn't know if the copper would too. If not, I'll have to float the plants for at least 2 weeks to make sure any eggs hatch; once out, the babies would die from the copper just like the adults.
Thanks, anybody.

Get some Alum in the spice section of your grocery store. $2.99 Add 3 T. of alum to a tub of water, let your plants soak for a day or two. It will kill snails and eggs and not hurt the plants at all.

Thanks for the tip!
And it's inexpensive, too! Gotta love it.

I wish I would have read this post 2 days ago. I now have pond snails in my 75 gallon. Any suggestions of how I might get rid of them before i become over run with snails?

if you have no inverts you want to keep in that tank you can take a piece of copper wiring and put it in the filter. worked pretty well for me.
if you have alot of snails in the tank though i wouldnt reccomend this as a bunch of decaying snails is a very bad thing

Are Bamboo shrimp considered inverts? I believe they are, but wanted to make sure.

Yes, shrimp will be hurt by copper and probably alum.
