So gone are the Heaters, replaced with a 300W Hydor inline heater, IMO, tank looks much cleaner. The unit works great and is easier to control temperature.

    I added a snowflake eel

    and a Racoon Butterfly
    ang1.jpg

as well as a White Ribbon eel, he is a good 2 feet long put pencil thin and increadable to see. It's a bit camera shy and i will get photo's when he comes out to feed next time.

I also added a twin T5 Hi output bridge light fixture (Coral Life) with a 10,000 and a Actinic bulb. Much better! I installed a 48" Black light bulb in the old single bulb fixture for night viewing. Cheap and works like a charm, the Eels come out to play. I am very happy at this point with the Tank, I spend hours just watchin, it is mezmarizing!

Love the eels man! Tank looks great
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013

20g Long --> currently concoting a build plan

Check out the journal to follow my 20g SW tank

So I ended up with the Red Slime! Easily cured and now prevented from re-occuring. I added a Submariner 13 Watt UV Sterilizer/clarifier. As I have no sump, it had to be placed in tank and hiding this behemoth is no easy task as i need to be able to observe the pilot light to see it is working. Luckily I had a piece of rock with a cave/tunnel that i can see the light through.

Im still looking for that perfect piece to camoflage the top!

Wow, what a change from when I started. Gone are the in tank heaters, protein skimmer and some inhabitants re-homed. Added, lots' of rock, UV filter and several more powerheads. Originaly I stocked with a different end in mind, predators. Now, a FOWLR tank with some reef quality's. None are reef safe inhabitants, all are aggresive, but the tank feel's balanced to me and is somewhat peaceful until its' feeding time.

    The Tenants

My 3 eels, IMO, are the most facinating of my tanks inhabitants. The Allards interaction with thier Anemone is a close 2nd.

So for me, other than adding another eel in the near future, I am pretty happy with it. I am looking forward to my upcomming 220G Marine project and the myriad of problems we all face when starting something new
