I think our skimmer in our 75 gallon is on its way out and its time to replace it. My only issue is I'm short on space in the sump. We have maybe 8x8 inches to play around with. The only one I can really find to fit is the aqua c urchin pro, but its only rated for 120 gallons and I like to try to have one rated for double the tank volume, especially with sps, and our total system volume is around 110 gallons.

Are there any other decent skimmers with and 8x8 foot print that are rated for at least a 200 gallon tank? If I can't find one I'll settle for the aqua c urchin pro, any skimmer is better then no skimmer, lol.

I'm not 100% if this will work, but have you considered the SWC skimmers ?

I can't remember the extac foot print, but I do remember it was a lot small than my Vertex IN180 and that needs a 10.5" foot print.

I have also heard a lot of great feedback about this skimmer from our local reef site

    Might be worth looking into
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

It does look like a great skimmer and in our price range, but its too big foot print in 8.5x9

I just started a thread in "technical" about our skimmer crapping out. We are going to replace the power head only, not the entire skimmer. Have you considered that?

I haven't been happy with the skimmer all together, its actually too small for the tank, but I may replace the powerhead because now I don't have the cash for a new one, lol. I have to force water in with a air pump, it won't take it in by itself and the air inlet gets blocked every 2 days.

In the mean time I'll probably upgrade to a bigger sump so I can get an appropriately sized skimmer. I really want a reef octopus 150 or bigger. The 20 long is getting cramped so I may go to a 36 inch sump
