  1. Question plz help as quick as possible!!!!!

hi my mikey mouse platy and my red platy had babies without me knowing it i've seen two of them so far i dont no what they eat and also i dont have a breeder net or anything for these fry all thats in the tank is a dalmation mollie and the two platy that mated what should i do?

  2. Default

actually now i found 9 i dont even no how to get the out and i have a old 5 gal but its not set up and i have no water

  3. Default

do u have an extra bubbler, you should take some tank water out & fill the 5g, try to get the fry in there (put a cup under the net so if they go through the net theymight go into the cup & u can get them out that way)

i've read that fry don't need a filter right away & they would get sucked into it anyway, but a bubbler (set to low just to move the water) is a must.

i dont know what they eat though - baby brine shrimp? crushed up flakes?

For baby live breaders baby brine shrimp are the food of choice. Try and seperate the babies from the adults if you can. As I'm sure your aware the adults will likely eat the young. If your not ready, dont worry too much as your Platies will likely have another batch of young ones soon which will give you some time to be ready for them.

Same here & there's no need to panic, There WILL be plenty more.

Lots and lots and LOTS of floating plants will provide shelter for the fry right inside your main tank.

As for food -- most LFS sell fry food. Just don't go overboard, as it's very fine and powdery and it's easy to pour too much all at once into the tank.

I would also suggest feeding the adult fish their regular food separately in another part of the tank, then while they're distracted (feeding), feed the fry up in the floating plants. That way, you won't draw too much attention from the adults to where the fry are.

If you don't want to use live floating plants, you can buy artificial fry beds and float them on the surface of the water. These are just soft, grass-like clumps of fake plants the fry can hide in.

But with any livebearers, you'll have plenty more ... If they mate once, they'll mate again, and again, and again ...
