in that case you might have to wait to sawn them if you want the fry to survive. The females are rounder, fatter when pregnant.

my convict fry are currently in a small 8 litre tank when they get larger and i upgrade them would that be safe to breed widow tetras in, also how long will it take the widow fry to be about an inch, i bought one when it was an inch and in about 2 weeks it was fully grown, do they grow really fast?

I was going to try breeding them once but ended up not getting them. The easyest thing to do would be to get you male and female and place them into the raising tank you can use water from the parents tank to fill up the raising tank. Feed the parents on live foods, if you cant get hold of any, frozen would be a good substitute. Once they have spawned you must remove the parents as they will find there eggs a tasty snack. They can be quite a big tetra and large females can have anywhere from 20 to 500 eggs usualy around 200, not all eggs will hatch but then again the might. Then you have to wait for them to hatch and for them to absorb their egg yoke. Once they are free swimming you can feed them tiny foods like baby brine shrimp which you can grow yourself. If you buy brine shrimp eggs there is usualy instructions on how to hatch them. Finaly make sure you have a supply of baby brine shrimp as the babys will need constant monetaring and feeing.

When they are big enough you may return them to their parents. If you plan to sell them to a pet shop you must make sure thay take them b4 you breed them.

    Hope this helps!
