Two of my babies moulted this weekend.

One more to go...then I know they can all moult in the environment I'm providing...so that will be a relief...

Not really any different than a crayfish or shrimp molt, and posts about those are fairly common.
Come to think of it, the reptile keepers are the ones who don't seem to get as excited/post when a snake or lizard sheds.

Lost the little Borneo Black during a moult...but the others are all doing fine...

I realize this happens fairly often, but it's still disappointing...

When we visited family we walked through a pet store and I saw a Rose Tipped Tarantula and thought of you.

That's so cool...people think of me when they see spiders...

I've been paranoid to move my spiderlings to bigger cages...been procrastinating for months (good thing there's no rush with these guys). Today I sucked it up and moved two.

I moved the little G. pulchra from the tiny starter container to the 3.5" cube...

...and now he's climbed up the side...I hope he doesn't fall...

I blocked some of the air holes on the critter keeper with duct tape to see if that will work to reduce evaporation, but still allow enough airflow...and put the old cube with the L. violaceopes in it...but he hasn't moved out yet of the old cube yet...

If this approach works for humidty...I'll move the P. irminia into a critter keeper too...

Not sure if I should wait to move the angry little spider yet...(Lasiodora parahybana)...the cube might still be too big. He's got a good leg span, but is much smaller bodied than the G. pulchra...

Well, he wasn't too chicken after all. Yesterday I found him UNDER his old cage...so I took it out. This morning he was under the new poplar bark.

Now I just hope I can get the humidty right...

I should just buy another Critter Keeper, tape it up the same way to reduce evaporation...and move the P. irminia too...
