  1. Default RCC vs Fiddlers?

I am thinking of starting a brackish crab tank and i was wondering what yall thought of RCC over fiddlers and vise versa. Any other basic info would also be greatly appresiated.

It dependes on what the size of the tank is. For a 10g you could hace about 3 fiddlers but only 1 RCC. You do know that they have to have access to dry land since there not fully aquatic right?

  3. Default

It would be a 10gal as of now but i might be getting a bigger one. I know they need land they would be the only guys in the tank. but i would only get one male as i heard that was best. and lots of hiding spots and a tight lid.

You would also need a heater since both like 75*-80*f temps. With fiddlers a good ratio is 1M:3FM But with RCC IME both M and FM are to aggressive to have any more than 1 in a 10g. It's usually recommended that RCCs have 10g for 1 and then 5g for every added RCC.

ok that seems resonable. But do you know how messy they are or what kind of water changes im looking at if i get them. I relize it will very by the number but just ball park.

Well for the fiddlers I have I have never seen any feces on the sand. And I do a 50% wc every week but that's because I only have 5g of water in my 30g and I have an in tank filter. If your not gonna do a filter and theres only gonna be a couple of gals then I would do a 100% wc. It was about the same with RCCs.

ok cool. i do plan on putting in a filter though but regular large water changes is what it sounds like.

Yep WCs are always the way to go. And you better post a pic when the tanks all set up!
