gotta new wii but it only plays in black and white
I have an old tv,15 yrs at least. It does have the modern av plug ins and I think I have it hooked up right with my dvd into the input 1 and wii into the input 2. Dvd and satelite works as does the wii play, but only in black and white.any ideas?

what kind of connection are "input 1" and "input 2"? coaxial?
I assume your DVD is playing color... does it have inputs? If so, you could hook the wii up to the DVD and route it to the TV that way.300 gallon mega tank: build in progress

I think it has something to do with the cable they provided us with.It is a 5 prong with 2 reds a white and a blu and green. My brother in law has his hooked up with a 3 prong, which is white yellow and red.

okay, yes. That's a "Component Video and Progressive Scan" cable... certainly not what you want for an older TV. You have red/yellow/white on your TV? I'm trying to find out if your cable can be made to work, but I think not...

followup: yeah, that's not going to work. I'm not sure how you can go about getting your hands on the proper cable... I've had my wii for a couple years but it came with standard RCA plugs in red/yellow/white. I guess that's considered pretty outdated at this point, so maybe they're shipping them with newer type cables now.

That's what you want. Hopefully you can get your hands on one locally so you don't have to pay shipping.300 gallon mega tank: build in progress

Really strange they would include that cable with a Wii....
Who is "General Failure" and why is he reading my hard drive?
