compatability question
My friend has a young jack dempsey that needs a home. I was planning on getting a larger tank anyways and I wanted some cichlids. Can I keep a jaguar cichlid with a jack dempsey. I am hoping on getting females of each because I hear the girls are smaller. What size tank would work with both of these fish?

these are two highly aggressive cichlids. i would advise against putting them in the same tank. it might work if you can get two very young females and put them in at the same time and you are very lucky. it will probably be fine at first, but keep in mind as they age their temperaments will get more and more aggressive. i wouldn't even attempt it in anything less than a 125 gallon tank, to give each plenty of territory, and as always bigger is better. but in my opinion i wouldn't attempt it, both of these fish are usually kept in a tank by themselves or as a mated pair.
If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I agree, the two alone would end up in disaster. One would bully and kill the other.but a few aggressives in a large enough tank would even out aggression. More cichlid's to pick on.Go with some smaller cichlids with the JACK,Salvins.convicts,so on.Jags are built for predation.just look at that mouth structure.
