Blood parrots are mighty confused
I have 5 and thought up until today, only 1 was a female. Last week a "male" and the female remained together behind this stump. She spawned and "he's" been by her side while the others all got chased away.
Surprise, Surprise. Today I see that "he" is also a she and she has now dropped her breeding tube and also spawning. Of course both females right there together now.

Heard of angels doing this but not when there were 3 big, handsome males to pick from. What I really think is female #2 has decided she likes #1's cave and number #1 is not about to give it up. #2 is going to spawn back there whether anyone likes it or not even if no males are allowed to enter.
There's a little sign over the door, I guess, that says Girls Only. Any other cichlids would be battling by now but not these kids. One of the things I like about them the most.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••
