media to remove meds?
I will be done medicating my tank for ich by tonight (have been medicating almost a week) and wondered whether I should just put carbon in the filter to remove the meds - and does it matter how long I keep it there? I'm supposed to do a 20% water change after I'm done with the meds - do I do that and maybe the next day add carbon? Right now I only have the sponges & ceramic rings (fluval 305) and am planning on putting more polishing media in my trays.

I would do the water change followed by adding the carbon. I would not leave the carbon in there for longer than one month.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I also have a bag of API Bio-Zorb I purchased before I started the meds - I removed it before I started the meds. Can I use that along with a bag of charcoal?

you say you have been medicating for almost a week. it's usually recommended to continue medication for a week after you see the last spot of ich. i don't know what medication you are using, but i would continue medicating a few more days before doing that water change and adding the carbon to the filter.
and personally i wouldn't leave the carbon in the filter longer than a week or two. that's long enough to remove the meds out of the water. this is just my opinion, but why leave it in longer? if you choose to use carbon in your filter you can replace it with fresh and medicine free carbon and then change it out every month, but personally i would want the meds out of my tank and filter as soon as possible. If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
