Beginner Red Claw Crab Tank
Well I have a few questions and concerns taht I could use a few opinions on.
1. I have a 10 gallon freshwater tank that been running ofr a few months, and I decided to get a couple of Red Claw Crabs to begin with and get used to taking care of the tank, the later on picked up a Vampire Crab.
2. I have researched that the Red Claw Crabs can live happily in freah water, I been think of adding salt, but while researching the Vampire Crab I found no information on what kind of water conditions they like, so I have no added and kind or marine salt to it.
3. There is penty of land access and hiding spots, and spots to climb on. I feed them crab pellets and occasionally freeze dried plankton.
4. I have been cleaning and tending to the tank regularly, and do schedualed water and filter changes.
5. Just recently one of my Red Claw Crabs died out of the blue, I have been feeding them regularly and also they have been spending a lot of time out of the water, which I'm not really sure why, the water quality is good.
SO basically my question is since I'm going to replace my Red Claw Crab, I was thinking of adding marine salt to the tank to help improve the water condtions, but I'm not sure if the Vampire Crab will like it, and why would my Red Claw Crab just die out of no where when it was fine and eating properly?
So can anybody help and give some advice.

I don't have red claws but I do have fiddlers and I know there's not much of a difference. Red claws do fine in fw but live longer and happier lives in brackish. If you don't know how to do brackish a good ratio is 1g sw to 4g fw. And they do die outta the blue for some reason. One of my fiddlers just stopped movin and die for no reason. Hope I helped.

I was thinking that but since there is little information on Vampire Crabs, I wouldn't know if they would live/survive in the brackish water.

Don't know one thing about them but found this that says they like to be out of the water most of the time. Also nothing about salt at all other than need it for breeding but I only spend about 2 minutes reading so .......still know nothing. :)
