I'm waiting on some SAEs that are coming via USPS Priority. Pretty anxious about that as it's my first time ordering fish online, and the delivery person never rings the doorbell (just drops the package/s off on the porch and leaves). To top it off it's fricking SNOWING and BLOWING! What's up with this weather??

Also on the agenda today is laundry (fun!) and P90X exercises. If anyone is looking for an extreme workout, check out P90X. I always thought I was in relatively good shape until I tried it.

Was able to remove a little more of the remaining water from the bottom of my 65-gallon, which I had filled to test for leaking. When hubby returns home, I'm going to have him bring out the wet vac from his vehicle to get the rest of it up. He has a miniature one he takes with him to his jobs.

When I get this tank onto its stand, it will be easier to work with. Right now, it's on the floor and it's deep, so bending over the frame (which I try not to put pressure on) to remove the last 1/4-inch of water is tedious. It still has it's cardboard surround protecting the seams and the frame, and I won't be removing that until it's ready to set up.

Thank goodness for wet vacs, I just wish hubby would leave it here for awhile so I can use it!

Still snowing and crummy out, today! This is becoming disheartening ... The lack of sunlight is starting to become an issue ...

I'm still folding and packing clothes to go camping. Pretty much everything is done. Just need to go grocery shopping tomorrow, ready to leave at the sparrow fart on Thursday morning (5am).

I slept in this morning and have just realised I haven't given my fish their morning feed. Better do that before they gang up on me!! LOL!!

The driving rain finally stopped, though the winds are still high... I crawled out of bed at 11am to feed my fish, then crawled back into bed and slept till 3pm.

Today was grocery day, so I took advantage of the semi-warm weather to get my errands done. Had to drive out to Sydney River because the only store that carries the pasta sauce I use for spaghetti is about 20 minutes away (depending on the traffic). Mostly overcast with some thin sunlight. But no rain and no snow (thank Primus).

The day lilies are poking over an inch out of the ground in the front garden; they're enthusiastic and don't seem overly bothered by the periodic frosts we get at night. The bellflowers are also starting to come up.

Am a little cranky when I remember that this house and that garden is going to be sold, considering all the effort we put into planting and maintaining at least eight different kinds of lilies (we get lily leaf beetles that eat the crud out of stems and leaves if we don't keep an eye on them). Back garden still has salt in it (no thanks to my grandfather ><) Nothing grows very well back there. Except lettuce. And green beans.

Not looking forward to dandelion season.

The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of the act

Working from home today...but I have most of the day off. I'm planning on looking after some the small irritating jobs/chores I keep putting off...and then having a nap!

If it's warms up and stays nice I might replace the nap with a dog-walk...

Just got back from my mammogram appointment.

Hubby got out the wet vac, so I'm about to go up to the shop and vacuum out the rest of the water from the bottom of the 65-gallon. After it has thoroughly air dried, I'll be covering it with a blanket until I'm ready to get it up and going.

Should have my stand here, tomorrow.

Vacuumed out the last tiny bit of water from the bottom of my 65-gallon. I really am glad it has proven to not leak.

Now hubby is holding things up by insisting upon putting down a patch of vinyl flooring over the concrete where the tank and stand are going to go. And I had to incur the extra expense of buying that remnant of vinyl flooring. He wants to put base trim around the edges and a finishing strip in the front, all of which I had to purchase. That's really okay with me, as long as he gets it done within a REASONABLE time frame! He has known for months that I intend to set up this new aquarium system, but decided on the vinyl flooring project at the very last minute. I had better not end up having to nag him to get the job finished, since this was his idea to begin with.

Today is WC day for my 20-gallon-high. Changed 50% of the water and did some minor rescaping. Rinsed out the prefilter sponge, but didn't do anything else with the filter.

Anyone know where I can get a Python with a 12 or 15-foot hose? My LFS only sells Pythons with 25-foot hoses, and I don't need one that long. I can just see myself stumbling over the excess as it tangles up around my legs. Do they only manufacture 25-footers?

    More later ...

    Nice, WD!

I've been having some fun today, creating my own aquarium decor. I got some aquarium glue at my LFS the other day, and have been attaching fake plants to rocks, and a plastic seahorse to a weighted plant base, then surrounding it with small pebbles and portions of plastic plants I took apart for sizing purposes. I have this clear lucite scallop I got at PetCo awhile ago, and put that on the plant base with the plastic seahorse. Looks really cool!

As expensive as aquarium ornaments are, it's quite a nice savings to make one's own. The plastic seahorse I got at Dollar Tree. It was in a pack with a bunch of other aquatic critters, including little crabs and lobsters, in the kids toy section. The weighted plant base came from a fake plant I bought that came loose from the base. And from my own yard I got the large rock I've been attaching remnants of other plants to. I've used it in the tank before, just bare. I even attached a small clam shell to the rock, just underneath the plant carpet. So, now it's much more than just another rock in the tank.

Wouldn't you know it! It got sunny just long enough for me to walk up to my flower garden. Then, just as I got parked on the bench, it clouded up and got cold, again. I see huge rain clouds at the same time the sun is shining. My poor bulbs don't know whether to grow or sink back into the ground! It snowed on them for most of yesterday.

I hope we have a decent May and June!
