Just came back from a 5 km 'Fun Run' fundraiser for the Zoo Society. The Grizzly Bears are HUGE...the lions and the wolves were running (chasing?) along their cages (they looked like they were having 'fun'...not like this was upsetting them). The cougar was out sitting on a post watching, and the baby bison was adorable...not more than 2 weeks old, if that...

Now I have to eat something and mark exams...if I do well, we'll take the dogs for a walk before I have to make supper...

good for you, Rue. I think if I tried to run 5k I'd have a coronary.

I'm back from holidays now, still trying to adjust to my home time zone and its not going well. I'm having "lunch" now and its 6pm. Going to be a rough day at work tomorrow!

Now I'm off to see what's been going on in AC since I've been gone...

    I'm on Easter holidays.

I'm very soon gonna run my eldest son into work, drop by my LFS and pick up a new heater.
Home and onto some water changes, Got the apples, peps, 3ft planted and 2.5ft planted to do. Might chuck in and do the 4ft and 5ft while i'm at it. Will see how i feel.

Then gotta clean to toilet and bathroom (my least favorite job!)

Pick up son from work and take the dog in for a drive and a quick walk while i'm at it..

That is how i am hoping my day will go *LOL*

I got all but 1/2 inch of water out of the 65-gallon. It's amazing how difficult it is just to remove that last little bit. I can't use large terry towels because they might have detergent residue from the washer (always some, despite double rinsing). Too much water to soak up with paper towels, and the squeegie sponge on the long handle, as handy as it is, just isn't getting the job done. There's no mechanism for wringing out the squeegie. A sponge mop would work, but it would have to be a new one and not pre-soaped as some of them come. All of ours are used, and would have detergent residue in the sponge.

This tank is deep as well as long, and reaching that last 1/2" of water and completely absorbing it up into something is proving a challenge.

I could bail it out with a small plastic container, but there's not enough depth to the water to completely fill a container each time, yet too much to quickly get up that way. It would take forever.

Guess I'm just tired -- I can get the rest of it out tomorrow. Maybe some of it will evaporate out overnight. I'll figure something out ...

Meanwhile, the sun has FINALLY come out briefly this late afternoon, and I was able to walk up into the garden. Those poor bulbs are struggling to grow, since our weather continues to be crummy most of the time. Am still wondering if the Alliums I planted last year are going to come up, at all. Funny how the little dandelion shoots are having not one bit of trouble!

We're on Easter holidays here as well. So at the moment I'm packing the campervan ready to go away on Thursday. I've already done 50% WC on all tanks in preparation.

This afternoon I'm taking the kids to the local roller skating rink. They've never been so this'll be interesting. LOL!!

Slept in till about 1pm, then got up to take a shower and feed the fish... They are not happy about me sleeping through their morning feeding time.

Storming today, so no way I'm leaving the house. Watched some old AFV episodes before booting up the computer. Watching Japanese horror movies while eating Chinese delivery

The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of the act

Well i didnt acheive all i thought i would *L*

Bought 2 new heaters 200W & 150W. Also bought a nice ocelot sword for the 2.5ft.

Apple snails are now all living in the 1 tank, now heated (new heater bought today)

28litre planted tank is, as of today, heated and filtered.

Setup the other 28litre, it is unfiltered and unheated. Also set up another smaller tank.

Cleaned a bucket of gravel that was smelling absolutely nasty! Is now cleaned and stored.

Emptied out the 2ft that the adult apples were living in, moved and cleaned it ready to set it up again in a few days, going cold water, maybe an axolotl or yabbies. Dunno havent fully decided what i want it for yet.
