Today has been one of those days that just wants to make you punch a hole in the wall. Mom and I went out early; she wanted to go to the Bell Aliant store and get something with out FiberOp straightened out. I wanted to go into Sandy's GMV (games-music-videos, the local used game/DVD/etc store) and work out what to do about a game I'd paid for them to hold for me but they sold on me. I took in three other old games to trade with me. They game me $10 in-store credit for the game they sold on me, so I used that and the trade-ins I brought to get Halo 3 for my xbox 360.
The day went downhill when we got to the Aliant store. Grand Lake Rd, the main highway out of Sydney, was literally bumper-to-bumper with traffic. It took us a half hour to get from the Zellers mall to the highway on-ramp. I didn't go into the store with mom, so I'm not entirely sure about the details, but Bell is going back on the deal they gave mom when we signed up for FiberOP, and she is in a foul mood because of it. I'm going to be avoiding her for the next few days.
Just to make things even better, we got home to discover that the dog had pooped on the living room rug. He's in deep trouble with both of us. He'd better stay hidden tonight.
After waiting for two months, I FINALLY got my surgery date to get the crash debris removed from my lower lip. On January 11th I will be going in for that surgery.
On the upside, we've also got someone interested in buying the house we're selling. Keeping our fingers crossed that she'll get the financing and buy it.

Howling wind-and-rainstorm today. I am not going outside if I can help it; I'd probably get blown away.
The hot water tap in the kitchen is broken. To fix it we have to get at the boiler and shut off the water, then fix the tap. And where's the boiler acess panel? In my bedroom. What kind of moron puts the water heater access panel in a bedroom?

We got the hot water tap fixed. I had to take my bed completely apart to get at the access panel and shut off the main valve. That was a nightmare... On the upside, though, I was finally able to get rid of some trash that I haven't been able to reach in months. On the downside... Mattress wrangling in a very confined space ><

Yesterday: I think my shopping is complete! Down to stocking stuffers.
Today: Do the housework so I don't have to do more than a quick vacuum tomorrow. Tomorrow is our Christmas...

Largest Dinner party to date for me.
This one was a bit more challenging as there is one guest with celiac (no gluten - basically no wheat) and one with some soy allergies.

It does not feel Christmasy. There's now snow, and because that wretched house hasn't sold yet we have very little money. We can't even afford a Christmas tree, real or pre-owned fake. There are lights draped over our ficus (a very temperamental ornamental fig tree), and there won't be many presents at all. I have been unable to buy presents for anyone because I have absolutely no money. Worst Christmas ever ><

I got a $50 gift card for wal-mart. Now I can go and get a copy of Darksiders 2. If I can find someone to give me a ride...

Went out to check on the bungalow with my sister and her friend Krystal yesterday afternoon. Was cold with light flurries on this side of the mountain, cold with heavy flurries on the other side. Good thing we took the truck instead of Kate's car. We were out to check on one of the bungalow windows, which doesn't close properly, so we tried to hold it shut with electrical tape. It was too wet to add some duck tape (yes, it was DUCK tape, not duct tape), but the electrical tape, amazingly enough, held. We didn't stay out there long; it was just too cold and the bungalow's power had been disconnected for the winter, so there was no heat.
Good dinner last night. Kate's other friend Kayla, who lives on a farm in Lunenburg, about an hour outside Halifax (more or less), had slaughtered some pigs recently, so Kate brought some pork roasts with her when she came home from Halifax for Christmas. It was actually tastier than store-bought pork.
My youngest sister got me two xbox games for Christmas: Assassin's Creed II and Portal 2. I am going to die/kill my character about a bazillion times learning to play the first one XD;;;
