jeffs99dime: welcome back! Hope you get nicely reconnected!
Taxis don't like to deliver people to acerages...dunno why. And then there's the expense. I'm cheaper.

That sure didn't work out for me. I had my dance class...then planned on a haircut, some time in the bookstore...and then pick up hubby.
Couldn't get my haircut...all booked at several places...then I didn't want to go BACK to the bookstore, because I figured the airport stores would be open, it was still early. Drove to the airport. All the stores closed. I wasn't leaving at this point...so I sat there. Three hours...why? THE PLANE WAS AN HOUR LATE...
Today: Watch the men replace our huge power pole...the head guy is a Newfie...we're friends now!
Then go pay the property taxes...try and get my hair cut...lesson...then ensemble tonight. Just me and the new cellist...should be fun! Haven't met her yet...but most cellists are fun - in a cello kinda way...

Today was "meh". Overcast, gray, and spitting rain off and on. Today was nothing noteworthy.
But the evening was definitely better.
Every year the Cape Breton Regional Library, which my mom works for (she's branch manager for most of the small branches, like Louisbourg, Main-A-Deiu, Donkin, Dominion, Florence, etc) has a big staff dinner. Mom invited me to come with her this year, since no way is dad going to stir from his easy chair and get dressed up for anything. This year it was a buffet at the Grubstake Restaurant in Louisbourg, within sight of the Fortress. There was seafood lasagna, fried rice with vegetables, chicken pot pie, two kinds of salads, macaroni salad, potato salad, and soft rolls. After dinner about half the group wandered over to the Louisbourg Library to have a look at the renovations (and I found out that a gathering of librarians is called a "stack", apparently...)
After that was the good part: A concert at the Louisbourg Playhouse, featuring the Men of the Deeps, North America's only coal miner choir. All of these guys were active coal miners before the collieries shut down, and some of them are old enough to remember crawling on hands and knees through 3-foot coal seams
