*fans self* Whew, it got warm today. Was close to 30 degrees. If it gets this warm in June, then August is going to be a real scorcher. At least, a scorcher when it's not raining. Am not looking forward to the overcast, suffocatingly-humid late summer days.
Am going to Fortress Louisbourg on Sunday. Admission is free on Canada Day. I will be taking my camera and getting lots of pictures.

No plans for today...some housework and maybe a nap...
Got home late, then woke up to let the cat in the house (she's been sneaking out for some reason but doesn't want to be out - which is just as well, because she's not supposed to go outside). Then woke up for some other noises...turned out to be nothing...then there was the snoring...
LOL...a nap is justified...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

Well I'm home.... and the bf over fed one tank, (likely two) so I have algae issues... and he didn't WC, and for some reason one of my angels has pop-eye so its WCs and plant trimming and working on getting that all back in some semblance of order.
He also didn't do laundry... so I'll put away the wash I did yesterday.
Or buy any groceries and toss out the salmon... so my fridge smells like bad fish and I need to get to the store.
But.... he did clean out the computer pile up in the library and now I have a place for my sewing machine that isn't the dining room table!
So when/if I get done with all the things that need caught up after being gone almost two weeks... then I can go up and work on my snowflake quilt!

Getting ready for our annual Fourth-of-July vacation (two weeks). Cleaned both aquariums and am stocking up on the vacation food for the fish. I've removed the (fake) floating plants from the 65 to let more light in. Am getting some live hornwort to replace it. Thoroughly cleaned both tanks, and the filters. The lights are on timers, so won't be an issue.
Will be packing today, and doing as much deadheading and weeding in the garden as I can. The rest will have to wait until we return. I'm sure those pesky Canadian thistles will make a grand comeback during our absence!
Tomorrow morning, I take my little old cat to the "kitty hotel" for boarding, along with his medicines. Then I'll be getting a haircut just before we leave.
Plan to do some bigtime birding in the wilderness where we'll be staying. I do daily bird counts, then submit the data to ebird.org, where the scientists at the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology can use it in their research and conservation programs. Not sure how much my little online checklists contribute, but I like to think it's helpful. They encourage everyone across the country to participate, so it must be meaningful to them. They even have a couple international versions of ebird.

I slept in until late in the afternoon, put some more aloe vera on my sunburn, and was up and moving in time for the string of thunderstorms to roll in. I've been stalking lightning from the window or the front deck for a couple of years now, but I've never caught a bolt like the one I got today.

The good news:
We took the dogs to the city for a city-walk...haven't done that for a year, in part because of my right ankle issues.
The bad news:
I stepped in a gopher hole and sprained my left ankle. X-rays don't show any serious damage but that doesn't change the swelling and how much it hurts...lol.
Now I have two wrecked ankles...
I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself at the moment...yesterday was the start of my 'new' summer walking program...today I'm trying to figure out how to use the crutches without falling over...
I have two appointments this morning to hobble to...traded vehicles with hubby...he took my standard and left me his automatic...55 g Goldfish Tank - 5 Fancies, 2 Dojos

Came home with a brace for my right ankle and a boot for my left. I look like an idiot.
I did go to my violin lesson...that was still fun despite the aching ankles...
Wonder if I can make it into the basement today to do laundry? Bum down the stairs?
