Seeding rock
Hi again saltys lol
I've ordered 6kg (14lbs ish) of ocean rock http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...id=p2761.l1259
I assume I can just use this as a foundation with my LFS supplied, cured live rock ontop and eventually it will seed and all become live?
Cheers, chrisUsed to try and keep track of my fish here.....

You are correct.
Stock the tank you have, not the tank you plan to have. Always have and use patience.

When you get your base / dry rock (not the live rock from the LFS), soak it in fresh water for about 2 weeks. That will help to leach out any phosphates or nitrates that could be on that rock.
I did that with my dry rock and I was a little shocked to see the nitrates and phosphates rise.
Just a little trick that helped me when setting up my SW tank.If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Now hold on a minute here *Cliff scratches his head*
Unless I missed it, but are you really starting a SW tank without starting a SW tank journal ?
Now you know I’m just teasing you in hopes that you will start a journal.

I forgot to ask, are you planning a FOWLR or reef tank ?

I think if I were to do a reef it would have to be a bigger tank!Used to try and keep track of my fish here.....
