Holey rock and ph questions
My multi tank is (slowly) growing, and I'm expecting a spawn soon as I have seen lots of breeding-looking behavior from one pair. They have about 4-6 shells per fish, so I think everyone is happy, but I was thinking of adding some holey rock to the tank to give them non-shell options (one fish seems to prefer another rock I have in there). My questions are: Will the limestone drastically raise the pH if I already use aragonite as a buffer? pH is currently 8, and I want to keep it that way.
2) is there a cheaper alternative to texas holey rock?

1- not really.
2- lace rock may be cheaper. My multies love it.Who is "General Failure" and why is he reading my hard drive?

Anyways lace rock is gorgeous and gives quite a few cave options to your fish. Mine was $2.50 usd per pound of rock at the local shop, most pieces being fairly light because of the density of the rock. I ended up spending about $40 for rock for a 55 gallon tank, I would have bought more if I was only using rock to scape the tank. Just to give you an idea, obviously it might be more or less expensive where you live.
