Hmm, I've been wondering what to do about my next tank project and you've inspired me. Thanks, I have seen plywood aquariums before, and read a good few peoples' build journals but for some reason today I was in the right frame of mind to be inspired for something I guess.

Anyway, enough of that, very nice tank, you do good work
No matter how much I learn or know I'm still gonna be a NOOB, but that doesn't mean I'm an idiot!

  2. Default thanks

Very nicely done, you did a great job...

You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.

How did you do the glass to wood seal? How long did this take to build? You should put your heaters in the sump, if you're concerned about them melting the plastic of the sump you could attach them to a sheet of glass laying on the bottom of the sump.

1G Planted Betta tank, 1.5G Planted Betta tank, 10G Planted Swordtail Fry tank,
    10G Neolamprologus Multifasciatus (Shell Dweller) tank. Empty/Work in Progress 135G, 40GB, 2 x 20GL, 2 x 10G

I put a whole tube of silicone between the glass and wood, and laid the tank on its face, and put weights on the glass and let it cure for about 48 hours. Its on there very secure. Do ya think the heaters would work well in the sump, even though sometimes theres not but six inches of water?

Sorry for the question, but what is a plywood aquarium?

Well, if you look at the OP's link from the first post in this thread that will explain it better than I can in words. Basically it's a tank where three sides and the bottom are framed plywood, and the front panel is a viewing windowvof glass.

Would it be possible to do the sides in glass like the front or would that cause the tank to be to weak?
