I have a Cardinal Tetra thats looking a little pregnant. Since this fish isn't a livebearer this is probably an issue. (S)he is getting a distended belly thats definitely differing from the rest of the fish. If anyone is familiar with this please chime in. I used the webernet and it sounds like it may be 'dropsy' but I see no scale anomalies:

She looks healthy and just doing what healthly fish do. Spawn.
The fish in that tank all got nice healthy high protein eggs for a breakfast or brunch treat.
Cardinal Tetras are egg scatterers. Well conditioned (well fed) female egg scatters get plump when they fill up with eggs. She should look over size again in a couple of days.

If you have a spare tank, Google Spawning Cardinal Tetras for advice. Just don't cross your fingers too tightly. They aren't as easy as many, many others.

    thanks dbosman :)

I'm not really looking to breed more cardinals so I'm happy with giving out some free protein out to the rest of the fish (may draw their attention away from the pending RCS hatching in a handful of weeks) ;)
