what crab is this???
i just bought a tank off of craigs list.... the seller told me there was a crab in there... well i found him in the filter.. is this a fiddler? and how do i take care of it??? do I really want it ...not really....
29 gal- 1 Koi angel, 2 banjo cats, dojo loach, 2 rasboras. double aqua clear filtered
10gal- 4 zebra danios, 3 cardinal tetras, black and yellow striped loach
15gal-3 dwarf puffers and 3 ghost shrimp.

Looks to me like a fiddler crab, with that one huge claw. Don't know crabs that well, though. Aren't fiddlers marine? Or is there a freshwater variety? Maybe Google can enlighten you.

20 gal. high: planted; 1 zebra danio, 6 glofish, several snails, 2 (visible) RCS; AC50, Azoo air. 65 gal: planted; 4 rosy barbs, 6 glofish, 5 white cloud minnows, 3 zebra danios, 5 dojo loaches, several snails; AC110 x 2.

they need a rock or something to sit on, they aren't 100% water lovers
from what i hear. he was probably trying to get to a land source by climbing up the filter. im not an expert though.

Yeah, looks like a fiddler crab. A small tank with a place where he can get out of the water. Filtration is minimal, just for circulation so the water doesn't get stagnant. Feed it veggies and little bits of meat ... or fish pellets.
