It got a little windy last night...
We lost power for a few hours... which in the silver lining dept I will say kuhlii loaches love to play by candlelight. It was nice to see so many of them out being playful while we waited on the generator repair man.
While the trees from the neighbors property weren't the cause of the power failure... they certainly are an impressive display of the powers of nature!
(But the bf doesn't seem very keen on me saying we should cut the top off one for our Christmas tree this year.)

I hate the wind...
Its scary.
...and I agree with your bf...don't chop down the neighbour's trees. There was an incident here several years ago where a Dad went to get the kids a tree...and just went to someone's yard and helped himself. The farmer took offence that someone would trespass and chop down his trees...
Ended up the farmer shot the Dad...

No one is going to shoot anyone. Trillianne, your neighbor's trees fell on your property. Give your neighbors the opportunity to clean up the mess and ask if you can have one of the tree tops for a Christmas tree. The trees are dead. That means they'll end up as firewood, lumber, or chipped. Be courteous to your neighbors. If the neighbor's don't clean up the mess in a reasonable amount of time, then you have a right to do so because the trees are now on your property.
It never pays to make an enemy out of your neighbor. Have respect and be courteous toward one another. In times of disaster, neighbors need to help each other out. When in doubt, do a water change.

Oh you guys are so funny :D
We have good relations with out neighbors. I know the bf was over last night while they were also out looking at the damage and said they would take care of the trees. And when the bf went out this morning to take photos the neighbor asked him to share photos for him too. Which we plan to do.
I just tossed the Christmas tree suggestion out to the bf because well.... the smell of pine in winter makes me think of such things
I even tried to bribe him with it being the ONE time I'd allow a tree up pre-Thanksgiving... but it was a no-go. (tbh: It was a tough case to make considering the several years before I moved in his idea of Christmas tree was a 2 ft pre-lit fake tree in a tub that his employee would set out on the kitchen table.)
Meanwhile staying up late to watch kuhliis by candlelight while awaiting the generator man to show up plus the holiday smell of pine has clearly taken its toll.... I nearly took my cereal bowl upstairs to the shower and was humming a Christmas carole the whole way.
