Chances Of PAIRING FMs
I bought 4 FireMouths and im sure that i have 1 Female and 3 Males . What are the chances of her picking a mate ? Should i get some more FMs ? or is the chances greater because she has 3 Males to choose from ?
And how will i tell if they do pair off ? I see some attempts so far . Gill Flaring at each other with their mouth expanding is that a sign they are trying ?110g All Male Peacock/Hap Tank

Im sure in time you will probably get a pair, however having 3 males you are going to have more fighting than if you had fewer males obviously. You could increase your chances by buying 2 more you suspect are female...then you would be assured of getting a pair. Gill flaring and such is a sign of aggression, it is a common FM thing it is them mainly trying to stake out a territory. Fortunatly fish usually stake out territory in preparation to pair up and breed.

Looks more like a display, which is fairly common for male cichlids to do trying to impress the female.
