  1. Default Baltimore National Aquarium | Barnes & Noble planted tank

    http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/...Baltimore.html

I went to Baltimore like 3 years ago and the national aquarium wasn't quite finished yet. Didn't go upstairs in the Barnes and Noble and missed their enormous 3,000 gallon planted tank with 1000 fish. It'd be awesome to see hundreds of Tetras schooling in such an environment so like their natural eco-system. Check out the link. Anyone seen either?

I've seen both. The amazon exhibit has been up for a long time, what hasn't been finished is their Australia exhibit, which was better than expected, but nothing amazing (amazing: like the 20' community tank at the Tampa Bay aquarium). The angels in the bookstore tank are the biggest angels I have ever seen, didn't know they could get that big. Some of the fish didn't actually look that healthy though, like they were from bad conditions, not necessarily that they were in bad conditions.

How was the Amazonian exhibit in person? According to the article, most of the fish were caught in the Amazon (Rio Negro).

The Amazon setup was really good. I quickly walked past most exhibits, just giving them a glance. But as soon as I hit the Amazon exhibit I just sat down on the floor and watched it. They have a nice Leopoldi ray, a big black/red belly pacu, HUGE plecos (mouths are bigger than quarters), tons of stuff. And it is one of those setups that is half water with open air above it, so there are birds and monkeys I believe, as well as a green anaconda. I think the Amazonia building in the National Zoo is better though (and free).

The exhibits are amazing. I was there just a few weeks ago. Really something you have to see in person for it all to make sense.

I would want to see the filtration they use! But atleast they give alot of fish a happy life!

Filtration must be absolutely amazing. Obviously a custom piece. With a body of water that large I wonder how much filtration would actually be necessary. I mean, there are no power filters in the Amazon Basin, for example. However the water isn't that clear either!
