I believe they prefer to be kept in groups.
26 gallon planted- 1 Black Angelfish, 1 Clown Pleco, Community of Ghost Shrimp
3 gallon- Male orange VT betta "Mojave"

They are often kept with african cichlids which I don't know much about. But I'm sure there are some you could put with them.

I wouldn't keep a group of petricola in a tank that small. Plus, they will eat your multi fry.

Are there any cats that can be kept with multis in the tank?

I know this sounds dumb, but what are multis? And whatever they are, how many are in the tank?

Multis are multifaciatus cichlids a dwarf shell dweller from lake tanganyika. They get around 1-2 inches.

If you want your multies to colonize the tank with their fry, I can't think of a single catfish that would work, aside from some smaller species of plecs. Multies are quite nasty tempered, even with their small size. They'll chase my leleupi around the tank, away from their shells.
