I have 3 Black Skirt Tetras. I have had them for almost 2 months. We have one that is slightly bigger and gets darker a lot more often than the other 2. I assumed this may be the female. Can someone tell me so I know what we have?

Wait until they get older and it'll be easier. Females are round while males are pointy.

My Black Skirts show this perfectly. I wish I had a working camera.

Females are larger and fatter. Males generally more blacker.

Does anyone have any pictures showing the difference.. I have 6 black skirt tetras and am curious about how many males and females I have. They are about the same size, a couple thicker then others but no fin difference I can notice.

Good information here. I have six black skirts in one of my tanks. Was wondering why some of them were getting so much bigger than the others.

Yep, the females will be the bigger, more robust ones.

These are my Tetras. The 3 in the front are boys, while the 2 in the back are girls. You can see the difference in the silhouette. Sorry about the blurry largeness. You can see more pics of them in my picture album.

The Pink and the Green (Yellow) on the right are girls, so is the orange one in the middle and the purple in the back. Slightly better Pic of the girls.
