Just for reference the way I have it right now is two 10k's a 14k (I think) and then a purple but it isn't a nice fiji purple like I was expecting, so what I was thinking is that I yank out one of the white bulbs and replace it with something like the blue one I have.

@Cliff, I know algae loves that color which is part of the reason I'm trying to get away from it... plus it just makes my whole tank look yellow... ew hahaha
55g Long --> After 18mo of doing well the tank crashed during moving. Most likely cause: Flatworm Die-off... won't start another until after moving... Likely not until late 2013

20g Long --> currently concoting a build plan

Check out the journal to follow my 20g SW tank

I'm on vacation for the week and my girlfriend is watching the tank.most of it is automated do it shouldn't be that bad...until I got a call that the power was out when she came to my house this morning:/ she said it probably tripped sometime yesterday, and it wasn't even the power company it was a blown breaker so she turned that back on but she said the tank was up to 85:( damn you this floor!!!! It seems like everything is back in order now I hope but I can't tell the extent of the damage over the phone so I'll just have to wait to get back home to assess what happened

I'll beat the tank will be OK

    Enjoy the holiday
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

85 really isn't that bad. I agree, the livestock should be OK.

Tank is ok but there was water loss and an ato malfunction, which I believe happened because a snail blocked the water intake of my siphon so my pump was pumping out of the sump with no return feed and the ato did it's thing, there was about a 10 gallon water loss on the floor... needless to say that my dad wasn't happy... stupid freak accident but none the less I have to move the tank to the basement where no more water damage has a possibilty of happening... silver lining is I get to change some stuff in the tank though so that's good news I guess

Well everything is dead :( save a couple corals I was able to save everything is dead... I came home on the second day after putting the inhabitants in the rubbermaids and noticed that the fish were dead and some corals were heading south... the determined cause is a flatworm die out since the rubbermaids weren't lit and I saw a bunch of dead ones at the bottom... so I've been dragging my feet a little with the journal entry because it's actually really embarrassing and also upsetting

However I guess with the closing of one door another opens... not sure what that one is yet but I do miss the tank so I'm starting to get it back together and get it back on track
