keeping hornwort where I want it
I finally found a way to keep my hornwort out the filter strainer and on one end of the tank. I attached an eye hook to a suction cup and threaded the hornwort thru it. Works great and all my hornwort is now away from the filters. yeaaaaaaaaa

do you have multiple stems pulled through the eye hook? Or are they bunched so you only need to do 1 stem? I've been trying to think of a way to float my cabomba and anchor it without damaging it ... this may be the way .....

I used a bigger eye hook and just pulled several inches thru.

For how long? Consider that hornswort grows up to 6 inches a day.
I love the plant but it need to be pruned almost daily.Do as I say. Not as I do.

my hornwort did fine planted when i had gravel, the bottom would rot, but it grew much faster, so i would just snip the bottom off and replant every week or so.
but when i got sand it would rot and float off practically within 24 hours so i ditched it.

It does grow fast for sure. I'm rather liking it too in the cichlid tank. I just like it spread across the tank and not in a big ball glued against the filter strainer. :)

What a great idea! I did the same thing, but through the loops at the end of the suction cups you use to hold air lines. Problem was, the hornwort always dislodged after a while. The eyehook is a much better idea!

I have some eye hook suction cups left over from last xmas that have clear plastic eye hooks. I'm so going to give this a shot with some cabomba.

Suction cups have to be good ones. Those little useless ones we see so often in this hobby just don't get it.
