Thread: Tiger Barb Tank

  1. Default Tiger Barb Tank

I am thinking of starting on a Tiger Barb tank. I am leaning towards the 30 gallon range. I want to have albino corys in there as well. Would 30 gallons be enough for 5 corys and 15 or so tigers?

Sounds fine to me, my tb's never bothered my corydoras.

what filter are you running on it? inch per gallon rule you are well under the max capacity limit. maybe do 12 corydoras?

That sounds fine. I almost did my 75G tank with all barbs but decided against it at the last minute.

For a 30G tank you'd probably be safe with 20 tigers and a handful of corries.
If you can find them it's cool to have a mix of tiger, albino tiger, and green tigers in the same tank.

Having a school of corries is always nice. Be careful with albino corries though. For some reason my barbs always beat on my albino corries but none of the other types for some reason.

DrNic, I think thats because the albinos seem to be more active then non genetic mutant corydoras.

and i second the mix of TB's.

Thanks for the replies. I have been mulling over what I want my next (and bigger) tank to be. I like the activity of the Tiger Barbs. I am not completely decided yet, but this is the front runner.

i think you can safetly have those barbs and cories together. if it were me, i would go for it seeing as the tank will be big enough to house them. but if you have the option to get a bigger tank, go for the bigger tank!

have you decided on a plan b?

    Thumbs up

    IMO, They will be fine.
My 29 has 10ish TB, 5 Peppered Corys, & 6 Red eye tetras in it with an AC 70 on it and they are all doing fine. Its an active but not aggressive mix.

No issues there.TB are not the pirhana that many like to make them out to be.Your stock list sounds fine.TB look very nice when the mature.I had a few 5 yr olds that were stunning.

I love my tiger barb tank. I think 30 gallons is a good size for a nice size school like that. I tried a few times to keep corys with them, and every time they nipped their dorsal fins. I've found serpae tetras to be a good match for them, and their colors really bring out the reds on the tiger barbs.
