  1. Default mating courtship?

Hello everyone, I've been lurking here for a while and finally have something worth posting about, so I'll introduce myself here. I'm a thirtysomething, married, and we have a baby daughter. I'd always wanted fish and we thought it would be cool to give our daughter something to watch, so I read up and learned how to keep a basic freshwater aquarium.

My wife and I have small 10g planted tank with three tiger barbs in it, one large green and two small regular barbs. The in-laws are gifting us their old 30 gallon long tank this weekend, so I'll have a new one to setup, cycle, plant, and finally stock with a few small fish.

Today the fat little female barb started doing a little dance with the big green one. They swim in circles, flare their fins at each other, and the normally aggressive male is sitting quietly by himself.

We're not sure if the green one is female or not, it has some orange on the dorsal fin, but its mostly black.

The behavior is cool to watch in any case! They look really pretty when they flare their dorsal fins all the way up like that.

I also have a tank PH question, but I'll post that in the basic freshwater aquarium section. Cheers!
