  1. Lightbulb Old Water Cleaner products

Hi there ive yet to say hi but will be doing in the newbies section shortly.

I was wondering would it be safe to use out of date products like aqua safe and alike the reason i am asking is i recently bought a tank and it came with a few freebies but i want to know if they would be safe to use.

I am assuming they should be but will not be as good as they was but with all chemicals they may get stronger so was wondering if anyone had used out of date ones.

    Thanks

I would err on the side of caution with any water additive .The stuff isnt that expensive and bad stuff could lead to unknown issues.Just isnt worth it.

I agree, why risk it to save just a few bucks. You never know what happens to that stuff when it goes out of date.

Yeah i thought it might be i might give the manufacturers a shout on this as ive got fair amount of the stuff and dont want to waste it if it could be used.

Whats the best stuff to use at good price i am currently using the Tetra stuff as its recommended and seems to be keeping water crystal clear.

when you say tetra stuff what do you mean, wether it keeps the water crystal clear or not does not mean anything.
    What is the product called?
is it a de-chlorinator or a Bacteria booster?
    16 tanks and counting

The more i look at your tank the more i want your tank in my tank!

I use there aqua safe and safe start.

And keeping the water clear is good as well as keeping the ph and nitrate levels balanced ive found these the best at moment.

but the ones that are out of date are made my hagen and called nutrafin cycle and nutrafin aquaplus

Prime is often suggested as a good additive/conditioner.

Keeping water clear and pH and nitrates balanced isn't necessarily indicative of good products, depending on what stage of the ammonia cycle you are at.
