Six weeks on the cory fry now. I think I have nine left. For a while there I was losing one every other day but things seem to have stabilized. They've graduated to uncrushed 1mm NLS pellets, as seen in the picture. Eight of them are about the size of the one in focus in front, but then there's one that's twice as big as the rest in the background. I guess he's the king of the litter.

If cories lay eggs all over your tank is it possible to remove them and put them (to hatch and rear) in a small QT tank? Or do the cories need to spawn in the tank you rear the young in?

That's exactly what I've done. The cories laid their eggs in the 75g community tank. I then immediately removed the eggs and transported them to a 10g tank, and that's what you see in these photos.

Ah ok, cool - I'm definitely going to try this when I have time to set up a spare. What tool did you use to remove the eggs? Most of mine stick them all over the glass (and the barbs move in like sharks for the snacks but they seem hard to get off).

I just use my fingers. I sort of roll them around a bit and they come off the glass and stick to my finger. I put a cup underwater in the aquarium, and I transfer them from my finger to the cup. I do one or a couple eggs at a time until they're all in the cup, then I move the cup to the fry tank, and transfer them from the cup to my finger to a rock in the fry tank. Usually after all that they still have enough stickiness to stick to the rock. This time they didn't, and a lot of them ended up floating away and settling on the sand. That didn't seem to be a problem for them.

I'd recommend getting some methylene blue to prevent fungus in the eggs. I've used it for danio eggs and cory eggs now and it works like a charm.

Excellent advice. Thanks for this. When I set something up I'll certainly do that.

Cory fry at 8 weeks now. I'm not sure if the big one is some sort of genetic superfreak, or if it's the only normal one and all the others are stunted. It seems like when I've done this before they've grown faster than most of them are. Maybe the big one is hogging all the food. I'll probably be able to move him to the main tank in a couple weeks. I also have a ton of pond snails in the fry tank, they're probably stealing food too. I've moved in assassins to help deal with them. It's only been a few hours but I'm already seeing empty pond snail shells. Good... good.
