Really wonderful planted aquarium. Thank you for the pictures!
    Knowledge is fun(damental)

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is down to just two Sterba's Corys. Filters: continuous new water flow; canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber!! Finally, junked the nitrate removal unit from hell.

well I finally have the danio fry tank cleared out. Some of the danio kids are in the community tank, but most of them are in the clown loach grow out tank. In the end I still don't know how many I have because I lost track of how many sets of 10 fish I moved. I'm still guessing about a hundred. I'm keeping a close eye on the nitrates in the loach tank to make sure it doesn't get out of control as they grow.

Anyhow, I thought I'd take a series of photos of feeding time at that tank.

The danios start out sort of hiding because I have come stomping down the stairs to their tank and I look like the sort of guy that eats danios, or something.

I dump a pile of NLS pellets into the tank. These are the 2mm ones I think, one of the medium sizes.

A few brave danios check out the food supply.

The school has decided it's safe, and they've now moved in in force.

125 gallon office tank: Africian cichlids, synodontis catfih
75 gallon community tank: bolivian rams, black skirt tetras, dwarf neon rainbowfish, corys, harlequin rasboras, otos, bristlenose and bulldog plecos, assassin snails, various shrimp
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish

Next, the loaches break from the cover of the caves and start darting into the pile to grab a pellet and run off with it.

The loaches scatter the pellets around with their antics. They break apart the pellets in their mouths, reducing them to a cloud of small particles that the danios can easily eat.

The largest loach is actually the shyest. It's the last to come out, often waiting till after I leave. This isn't the best picture, but it's the clearest one I got that really shows the shape of the big one.

The danios school up again when I get up to leave. After I'm gone they'll go back to eating, and when I come back next there'll be no food left anywhere.

Keep some to act as dithers for the loaches and replenish any losses* to the school in the community tank, raise the rest until they're big enough to give to the fish store if they'll take 'em.

*speaking of losses, I just lost a glofish. Its color gradually started fading and then it disappeared for a day before showing up mostly eaten in the filter. I've got one left which is actually one of my oldest fish but many more glofish have come and gone since I got that one. I'm done with them. I'm satisfied enough with what data I have to declare that they're just not as hardy as regular danios. They seem to be prone to wasting away and dying for no discernible reason while a tank full of fish around them thrives.

Very impressive! I've just wasted most of my day reading through this entire thread. Thank you very much for sharing!

Edit: I meant to ask, do you add any fertilizers or other gunk for the plants?
