    Default Filtration question:

Ok, as stated in a previous post, I have a new 125g tank (thanks to Craigslist!). It is currently filtered using a seeded AC70 HOB from my other tank, an undergravel system with 3 (70g each rated) powerheads, and a Magnum 350 canister (seeded with media from the AC70). My stocking is currently 3 Senegal Bichirs (2 about 6 inches, one only 2 inches), 2 Pictus Cats, 2 BN Pleco's, and 6 small Turquoise Rainbows. My question is, Is the filtration sufficient for this bioload? and If so, is there room for anything else? and if not, what additional filtration would you reccomend?

For your current bioload...its probably sufficient. You could stock the tank quite a bit more, but you would definatly need to increase filtration. I would add atleast 1 large volume canister filter such as a Rena XP3, Fluval 405 or equivalent.

As far as stocking goes I would add to your group of pictus, bump them up to 6. You could also stock quite a few additional mid-top dwellers. What are some fish you are interested in?

Senegal bichirs are excellent bichirs to keep as they arent as taxing on the bioload as others are...they only grow to around 9" and dont develope the bulk many others do.

I was considering a group of Congo Tetras for the mid/upper level. I would need to special order them. More Pictus would be great, as I absolutely love the two I have now. They had a bit of trouble making the transfer initially, but have settled in nicely. I would need to add a few more caves and crannies for them if I add more, but I love making stuff like that. I'm glad to hear I have sufficient filtration for what I have, that was a concern. I will most likely make the move to planted sometime in the winter months. At the same time I will add an XP4 and new lighting. When that time comes, I'm sure I will be badgering the experienced folks here for input.. hehe.
