  1. Default Temp for angelfish tank

hey guys, i have just set up my angelfish tank.

    set up
    3ft tank
4 angels ( silver veiltailts ) no other tank mates
    temp 29

i was using the heater in my old discus tank and having the temp at 29 was not a problem, when i moved it to the angel tank i lowered the temp to 26 but to my suprise the temp is staying at 29 degrees even though the temp is set at 26 on the heater, i will be replacing the heater on monday but in the mean time is this going to cause much problem to my angels?

They will be fine. 29c is fine for angels.

Not at all. Though domestic angels are more adaptable than their wild counterparts, mid to upper 70's would be sufficient for them, with the added benefit of cooler water holding more Oxygen. When I kept angelfish they were at 77 degrees.

Mine are kept at 25C, in summer though that temp can go as high as 33C

Do the higher temps affect growth rates or when I get eggs a speedy devopment of the fry?

I keep mine between 78-82F (depending on season...) and I've never noticed a difference in the growth of the fry.

With angelfish I had my best results at 76-80*F, with an optimal temp at 78*C

Depends on what you mean by high. Anything above 84*F can kill fry or cause deformities. Water that is too cool, below 72* can also cause the same problems.
