  1. Default best pleco for my tank and maybe a ground feeder?

Whats the best pleco for my 72 gal cihclid tank. My buddy had issies with his cichlids killing his plecos. He would always find them dead with there eyes eaten out. Want one to help out with the algea. Also, what are some cool good looking bottom feeders that will be ok with cichlids?

  2. Default

Well that would depend on a lot. What sort of cichlid tank are you talking about?

If you've got african cichlids, no dice, by which I mean no plecos. SA cichlids you've got a bit more choice. What's your stock?
    10 gallon planted with betta
    55 gallon Malawi Cichlids
120 with SA cichlids, Pleco and Pictus Catfish

Synodontis (various species depending on stock) or a single Asian upside-down catfish usually go very well with cichlids. Pleco's are hit-or-miss, their survival mainly depends on the stocking and setup of the tank. Ancistrus like the common bristlenose are the only ones that eat algae throughout their lives.

    ^^^^Please click the eggs/dragons, thanks.

The store next to my house has lots of bristlenose. So I should pick one up?

What kind of cichlids do you have?
SW: 25 gallon Cardiff reef and 50 gallon reef
FW: 8, 46, 75, and 120 gallon display tanks plus 450 sf fishroom.

it reall does depend on what kind of cichlids you have, if you have a severum you have tons of options, if you have a dovii or something you pretty much have no options.

Please don't put that poor BN in it unless you know your chiclids don't attack him. Why didn't your friend stop to put more in after they killed the first one?
Plecos are so much more than algae eaters. I have a little scrubber for my glass tanks for algae removal, also a special sponge with a handle for my acryl one.
