is it even POSSIBLE to rinse clean?
I absolutely give up.
I decided to revamp one of the 10g's to a planted tank only, with a couple of platys for ammonia source, and bought fluorite. It said rinsing is not needed, but i did anyways.
Ive rinsed for THREE HOURS STRAIGHT, USED OVER 70 GALLONS OF WATER TO RINSE IT, AND IT HASNT EVEN STARTED TO RINSE CLEAN! Is it even possible to rinse clean or do you just stick it in the tank and let it settle?

Being a newb I put in a layer of flourite, then gravel, filled the tank and let it settle/filter out. Vacuuming raises a bit of dust, but most of it gets sucked out with the water.

My first intention was to mix it with gravel too, but the package said that its best to not mix for some reason.
I give up with rinsing. tomorrow im just gonna hook a filter up and see how it goes

Keep rinsing. I rinsed by 15lb bag for about two hours under a shower as well. Don't grind the stuff or it'll make even more dust.

You'll be rinsing all the nutrients out of it if you keep rinsing it. I rinsed 3 times, dumped it in a colandar on put it under the shower head for one more time and that was it. Run you filters and it will clear up in a few hours if using Fluorite.
You can use gravel as a mix as long as there's more Fluorite than gravel. You probably stirred it up even more when you refilled the tank. Do some water changes if you need to but be careful refilling.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

After a year the flourite under my gravel still had not stopped muddying up my water during water changes so I gave up and removed it since I can't keep plants anyway!
