  1. Default How long after giving birth do guppys have new batch?

My two female guppies just lost their gravid spot overnight and I don't see any fry. I'm going out right now to buy a breeder tank, but how long does it take her to get pregnant again and have a new batch of fry? I don't really want to stick her in the breeder too long and drive her crazy.... thanks!

gestation is something like 3 to 5 weeks?

  5. Default

so wait to put the females in the breeder tank for 3 weeks? does the gravid spot usually come back within 5-8 hours?

  6. Default

think about it this way: guppies being as, uh, prolific as they are, she'll be pregnant again soon. but the fry need time to grow. as they get bigger, the gravid spot gets bigger/darker. that's the part that takes a few weeks. I'm sure you can find a more precise answer by googling guppy gestation period or something like that :)
