Road trips
Since it's summer I thought this would be a good topic. These can be disasters at times. But they can be funny when they're over. Anyone have any experiences?

I took a road trip alone after I graduated high school, I was gone for 2 months traveling around the US. Mainly went to various places around the east coast, went to alot of concerts and worked some random odd jobs along the way to keep myself in money. I met alot of great people and learned how to survive on my own. I met my SO at a concert in NC, suprisingly we live fairly close to each other but had never met before. Needless to say we finished the last leg of my roadtrip together. Have to admire somebody who is willing to drop everything and travel to unknown places with somebody they have just known for 3 days. Now we always take a road trip every summer, this year we were both stretched for time so we took a long weekend and road our bikes to flordia to pick up some parts for my Mustang. Of course we couldnt hardly walk for the next week...1300miles on a motorcycle will do that to ya

Ah yes.... those wonderful regional quirks like:
1 - Learning that in Oregon the law has an attendant pump your gas for you, and here you thought the guy was just really nice!
2 - Lemonade = Lemonade + Sprite in Montana, and you have to specifically ask for "Plain Lemonade"
3 - Missouri doesn't always love company.
4 - Learning of the Sturgis Bike rally by trying to find a hotel room from the most Eastern border to the Most Western border along the interstate....
5 - I can't put my finger on it.. but there is something titillating about Utah Highway signs:
(Sure its the Beehive state...
)
6 - I dunno, but driving through George, Washington just doesn't seem super respectful.

LOL...luv it!
I don't have much in the way of entertaining stories.
The best I have was stopping in Custer, Montana for lunch. I was coming home from a long week in the Wyoming Mountains (went on an Adventure Vacation - cattle drive) and needed gas and food. I was alone, and have no idea where to stop of course...
The only place to eat was the bar and for the record I rarely go to bars and NEVER by myself. First of all I couldn't even see! It was so dark from the brightness outdoors...then when my eyes adjusted...I found the clientele an odd mix of bikers and old old old farmers...talk about being out of my element and outside my comfort zone.
Anyway...I braved it, had a decent burger...left the bartender/waitress an tip and high-tailed it back to the familiarity of Saskatchewan...

All I can think of is when our motorhome broke down up north at midnight. We had to get a tow truck and we were in the middle of nowhere. That's a long story made short.
