Default My Betta Not well- HELP!!!

    0 Not allowed!
    Hi,

Never seen these symptons before in my betta, seems to be happening recently.

My betta tends to lie flat on the top, the fish is alive but no moments, dosen't eat and is also dull.

Other one will remain in one corner with body bent again floating on the top of water.

I have already lost one fish with such symptoms.

These are fishes, kept for my selective breeding but I am loosing out on them please help

    regards

    Anand.

    Questions:
    - what are your water parameters?
    - when did u lose the other betta?
    - is it at all possible that whatever killed the first betta has gotten into this aquarium? (did u use any plants gravel decoration filter media or water from last betta aquarium?)
    - does the betta's stomach appear sunken? it could be an internal parasite.
    - did symptoms appear gradually? or was the onset immediate?
    - did they after any drastic changes to the aquarium (i.e a large water change?).
    - how long have the fish been in the aquarium?

    Thanks for the response,

As mentioned those were my breeding lot, so have all of them jarred seperately.

I am from India so easy access to Almond leaf and thus I can easily monitor my PH level, I don't see any issue for water.

Agreed that whatever killed the first has gotten in to other as I use my hand while cleaning others too.

Stomach Sunken as they are not eating.

    Sympton are gradual

Fish is with me for almost a month, got them imported from Singapore.

I am treating them simple have raised the water temp to 30 degree, not yet started treating them for internal parasite..I feed them live tubifex worms, can be carrier of parasite...may try fenbendazole OR menbendazole.

    Thanks

it seems that u know what you are doing, sounds to me like an internal parasite, or a water quality issue.
could possible be some sort of viral issue though. in which case there would be nothing you can do, so we will hope it is a parasite.
try feeding ur fish garlic, it is a great anti-parasite, soak there food in it, or by food containing it. works great as a preventative and a treatment.

so their stomach sunk after they stopped eating and not before?

I'd have to agree that it's likely to be parasites.

Yes Garlic is good, it just slipped my mind, use to add them to my discus beef heart mix. Thanks

But yesterday I lost one..and the other one that carrying same symptoms, I have gave him a PP dip and have kept him in diluted PP. will go and see how he is today.

But I wish to Quote that Betta seems to be more difficult than keeping OR breeding a discus fish. Discus is very simple to breed and also to care for.

    Thanks friend,

today have made setting for 2 of my pairs(copper and mask green) will surely keep you all posted.

    Thanks again

    Anand

sorry to hear about the loss, but im sure ull sort it out.
i have never kept a betta nor a discus =P. i tend to prefer native and predatory fish =P. i am hoping to keep a betta one day though. just need to get my 55 gal set up completely, before i start saving for betta set up.
    good luck
